Al Ballentyne started this petition to Kevin Lygo (Head of television, ITV) and

It is clear that as we enter 2019 we are a divided nation. Part of the problem is the main media outlets giving platforms to those who are full of words but nothing to say.

We need to see inspirational, competent and mature people leading the nation in the mainstream media outlets, especially when media trustworthiness is under scrutiny. Why is it that ITV feels it is appropriate to beam into the houses of the nation, each morning the views of a man who was implicated in phone hacking, sanctions hate speech, makes continual inflammatory remarks and is generally a bit of a gasbag. Why does ITV feel that it is justified in giving someone with that amoral approach to business conduct, public trust and views the advancement of their own position over all else a prominent public soapbox?

We live in a time where it is clear that everyone has access to mass communication in social media and it enables a certain degree of influence. We should not forget that the freedom of speech, expression, tolerance and ideas are a fundamental bedrock of our society.

However we cannot ignore that to be tolerant of those who are intolerant, express inflammatory ideas, criticise others for living differently to them and stir the pot of public anger is dangerous. When really to be quite frank he cannot articulate his fear of a world that people like him are increasingly failing to understand or remain relevant in (as is the natural progression of life) can be dangerous when done in this manner.

Piers Morgan himself may not be a dangerous man, he is a misguided man who's position of wealth and part of the furniture of the media has rendered him out of touch and a dangerous influence to impressionable people. ITV must stand up for what is right and for the good of the people of the UK, remove Piers Morgan from your network.

P.S. This is not about sausage rolls but the attached image cuts to the heart of the man's angst.
