Letter to
Harvard Law School Dean
Withdraw Medal of Freedom from Pakistan's Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad.

The former Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is a corrupt, unethical, unprofessional, unscrupulous and politically biased judge. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is not worthy of medallic recognition. The Medal of Freedom should be immediately withdrawn from Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as possession of medal by a corrupt Chief Justice undermines the prestige of the award.

Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has been involved in corruption of millions of dollars. Being in an influential position, he astutely managed to get rid of the corruption scandal. The business tycoon Malik Riaz who gave bribe to Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry has uncovered his corruption all the time. Media, government and other departments have ample evidence against him. He has always had his own personal agendas, ideology and personal affiliations (notably with Mian Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Pakistan). He enjoys a nearly unlimited power and almost all the judicial appointments take place at his discretion. His decisions are often contrary to the law or against the weight of evidence. He with unlimited power thinks that he can do anything he wants and, people and the government should obey him. He has become an evil dictator because he has never been held accountable for his actions. His abuse of authority reminds us that "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" (Lord Acton).

His corruption of millions of dollars, as well as his, unconditional support to non-state actors and instances of favourtism, etc. make him ineligible for a coveted award.

We do not deem him worthy of this honour. We urge Harvard Law School to revoke Medal of Freedom from Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
