To the college of education:

The students of our major are requesting a change of location for our graduation. Student teaching requires teaching full days, lesson planning, subbing, grading, working off the clock, driving to and from our schools every day with no compensation for gas money, etc. We don't receive any money for our hard work and dedication to this program and for our students. It was brought to our attention that our graduation ceremony is being held in Keaney Gymnasium. Keaney gymnasium has no air conditioning, is small, and isn't a nice setting to graduate. This is one of the most important events that will occur in our lives, and I am speaking on behalf of our major to tell you that this is not how we want to go out. We saw that nothing is being held in the Ryan Center during our graduation time. We started this petition because we are all supporting the change of locations to either the Ryan Center or the quad. We work so hard at our schools and want college to be a memorable experience for us. Our families want to be comfortable watching us and we want to walk across the stage under the lights of the Ryan Center. If there is anyone else we can reach out to, we are willing to speak to anyone about this. Thank you for your time and consideration.
