As Ball State students and the Muncie community, we refuse to be silent in the face of injustice. Professors should be held accountable to university policy with concrete consequences not just apologies.

On Tuesday, January 21st, 2020, Professor Shaheen Borna demanded a non-disruptive student to change seats during the middle of class. After the student refused to change seats, Professor Shaheen Borna called the police. With Professor Shaheen Borna handling the conflict by calling the police, he broke policies from the Ball State University's Faculty and Professional Personnel Handbook he is suppose to abide by as a faculty member. The codes the professor didn't abide by in the handbook were 5.1.3 (Harm, Threat, or Endangerment), 5.3.4 (False Reporting: Falsely reporting an emergency), including 1.5.2, 1.6.1, 1.6.8, 2.2.a, 5.1.2, 5.2.9.

List of demands to prevent a situation similar to this occurring again.

-Early Retirement for Professor Shaheen Borna

-Mandatory community Service for Professor Shaheen Borna.

-Conflict & sensitivity training for all professors and faculty

-A newly formed campus funded student committee to advocate for student issues.

-emergency counseling session
