Henry Stillwell started this petition to Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea and

Depaul University College of Law first year students are facing an unprecedented challenge.  Securing employment this summer is going to be harder than any year before.  Programs are being cancelled, internships are being postponed, and uncertainty about our futures is at its peak.  While some students do have positions lined up, many don't, and many are uncertain whether their positions will be delayed or cancelled.

What can Depaul Law Administration do right now to help students in this difficult time?  Simple:  Allow students to apply the Dean's Scholarship funds that we earned to classes and externships over the summer term.

What am I to do otherwise if I am unable to secure a funded internship or position?  I can't return to my restaurant job.  Is it fair to force me to take out additional loans to pay for the same classes I can take at a significantly reduced price in the fall?  If I can use my Dean's Scholarship money this summer, I can take classes or externships without having to take on additional burdensome debt.

This is not an easy problem to fix.  However, Depaul Law Administration has a responsibility to do what it can to assist students in this difficult time.   The best action Administration can take to help students right now, would be to allow us to apply Deans Scholarship funds to summer classes and externships.
