Pradeep Reddy Chimmula started this petition to Dean, Faculty of Law, Delhi University and

A student union body of any college has the most important function of acting as a bridge between administration and students to address their grievances. The election to such a body is supposed to follow a process which ensures that students can easily make the best choice.

Our Delhi University currently follows a presidential system of democratic model to elect the executive body of student union of both colleges and entire university, but it is ironic that there are no official debates or public speaking events involving all the contesting candidates at one place. The current campaign model followed by most contestants is the  "shake hand model" which involves meeting each and every person of college and trying to gain their vote by doing any little help they can, I genuinely feel all the contestants are capable of doing much better to propound their views and agenda provided the administration support them. I think it is high time that administration conduct such events and help students make informed choice based on assesing 'skill and will' of all contestants, apart saves the huge quantity of paper used for campaign, in these days of environmental crisis.

This particular petition is to request  a debate at least for presidential candidates if not for all posts of students union of Law centre 2, Faculty of Law, Delhi University. I request all the students of the centre to sign it so that we achieve an effective electoral process that can elect the best candidates, for the perils of electing a wrong person are high

Thank you
