January 21, 2020

Dear ECAWAR Board of Directors,

This is a letter on behalf of the Iranian Community of Edmonton, we (the signees) would like to caution ECAWAR about unintentionally creating a platform for radicals from the Islamic Republic of Iran to promote dangerous ideologies at the upcoming ECAWAR rally on Saturday, January 25, 2020, in Steel Park entitled “No War on Iran – Global Day of Action”.

Iranian people have been experiencing the darkest period of their long history over the past 40 years after the Islamic Regime was established in Iran in 1979. Below this letter (appendix), you can find only a few examples of the tragedies that have occurred since the Islamic victory in the country.

As you can see, the Islamic Regime in Iran is the main source of instability, political tension and civil war in the Middle East, particularly in the last 10 years. The Iranian community in Edmonton kindly would like to remind ECAWAR that the Islamic Regime spends millions of dollars each year to hire, train and support intelligence service and IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) members working in countries across the world, including Canada, to recognize the opposition, including opposition leaders and journalists, and to advocate and advertise the Regime's propaganda through influencing media and public opinion.

One way that Islamic intelligence service and IRGC members do this work is by hijacking anti-war rallies, such as the ECAWAR rally on January 25, 2020, in order to spread propaganda that war in Middle Eastern countries is caused solely by Western interference rather than by the suppressive Regime itself.

The Iranian community in Edmonton would like to advise ECAWAR that the Islamic Republic intelligence service and IRGC members exist in Edmonton and may be involved in the upcoming rally.

The Iranian community of Edmonton is deeply concerned. Iranians in Edmonton are against war, but also against the brutality of the Iran regime – no war, no Ayatollah, democracy for Iran. This letter, supported by signatures from members of our community (attached), is a request that ECAWAR does its due diligence in collecting information from independent sources to reveal these individuals and prevent their attendance at the rally next week

We appreciate ECAWAR’s efforts in preventing war in countries around the world, and its current concern for Iranian citizens. Over 100 Iranians in Edmonton would like to attend the “No War on Iran, No Islamic Republic Regime, Democracy for Iran” rally on January 25, 2020, if ECAWAR is able to protect it from infiltration by the Islamic Republic.

We invite you to contact us at democracy.for.iran.ps752@gmail.com if you would like to discuss the information provided in this letter and our request further.

Sincerely,

Iranian Community of Edmonton
