In November 2021, Douglas County held an election which included 4 seats of the Douglas County School District Board of Education.  All candidates for these seats ran openly, and transparently on their priorities, intended direction, and changes for DCSD.  The result of the election was Peterson, Myers, Williams, and Winegar.  This represented the popular vote of Douglas County Residents, who supported their plans for DCSD.

The four newly elected BOE members have begun executing on the strategy they campaigned on, and were elected on.  While those not in favor of this direction or election results may strongly disagree, this does not supersede democracy or election results.

We fully respect ALL members of DCSD and the DCSD Community as well as value their opinions, experience, and wisdom.  However, do ask for reciprocated respect for the wishes of the Parents and community.  These wishes and a call for change were communicated through the voters in November of 2021 by parents who vote for, support, and pay taxes into the school system educating their children.  Change is hard, but often good and necessary.  Parents reserve the right to have a say and contribute to their children's educational direction without having their voice immediately overturned.  Currently, only the pre-election voice is being heard. 

A result, this petition is to show support for Peterson, Myers, Williams, and Winegar as they represent the Voting Parents of DCSD children.
