Stop plans to charge over-75s for BBC TV Licence fee during Coronavirus crisis

0 have signed. Let’s get to 10,000!

From 1 June, UK citizens who are over-75s and not on Pension Credit will need to pay the BBC TV Licence Fee. I think this should be revoked immediately. There is a national Coronavirus crisis and over-70s are likely to be asked to stay at home, or even self-isolate, for up to 4 months. This may not be the only time this happens - there may be future pandemics too. TV will be a vital source of information, reassurance and company for those who are isolated and on their own without family. Charging them, and making them worry about non-payment is indefensible. And forcing over-75s to go outside to post cheques during isolation will put this most vulnerable group at risk. The Government and the BBC need to take decisive action to stop this charge immediately.
