Per Section 7-531.09, Qualified immunity allows the District government and its agencies, officials, and employees and sponsors and their advisory committees, officials, and employees, with respect to their participation in the program or a demonstration project immunity from civil or criminal liability if they have acted in "good faith". This includes police officers committing egregious acts of police brutality under the cloak of performing official duties against citizens of DC. Ending qualified immunity would be a very important step forward in eradicating the District and this country of the horrors of police brutality that are experienced everyday. Please sign this position in support of ending qualified immunity in DC so that all will be held accountable for dangerous and often times, fatal implications of their actions.
