On November 28, 2016, thousands of people escaped from catastrophic wildfires that took the lives of more than 14 people, injured more than 200, and destroyed more than $1 billion in commercial and residential property. Federal, state, county and city officials have refused to accept responsibility for these losses and have dodged questions from the media, residents, and visitors worldwide.
Eight months later, on July 28, 2017, survivors and supporters of victims of those deadly wildfires gathered as the Gatlinburg Wildfire Survivors Group to host a press conference addressing the news released that day involving the loss of all incoming and outgoing emergency calls to the Emergency Operations Center operated by the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency ("TEMA").
Minutes before the press conference was scheduled to begin, Davy Thomas, chief operating officer of Hospitality Solutions, Inc., interrupted the event, refused to offer his name, and expressed to the Survivors that "the owners" of the property did not want "their kind" on the property. The interruption occurred while Knoxville-based television news media were broadcasting live and streaming online to their audience. Numerous recordings of the disruption were produced. Many have refused to do any business with Hospitality Solutions, Inc., who also own and operate The Historic Gatlinburg Inn, The Hampton Inn Gatlinburg, The Hampton Inn Pigeon Forge, and The Hilton Garden Inn Gatlinburg.
Call Hospitality Solutions at (865) 436-5600, or email president and chief executive officer Logan Coykendall at LoganCoykendall@HospitalitySolutions.net, or email chief operating officer Davy Thomas at DavyThomas@HospitalitySolutions.net to express your dissatisfaction for their discriminatory, bigoted, hateful, biased and prejudiced comments about the Gatlinburg Wildfire Survivors. Demand the company issue a written apology to the Gatlinburg Wildfire Survivors for their outrageous conduct.
Boycott all of the properties of Hospitality Solutions, Inc., including Courtyard by Marriott - Downtown Gatlinburg, The Historic Gatlinburg Inn, The Hampton Inn Gatlinburg, The Hampton Inn Pigeon Forge, and The Hilton Garden Inn Gatlinburg.
The Gatlinburg Wildfire Survivors Group is an assembly of residents and visitors of the City of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, who are or support victims of the Gatlinburg Firestorm Event of November 28, 2016. Together, we demand accountability from state and local officials for the deaths of more than 14 people, the injuries of more than 200 people, and the destruction of more than $1 billion in property resulting from their failures to protect our community, our visitors and our residents.
