In the Davis & Elkins College curriculum it is mandatory for students to take a history class. Sadly, the history classes offered are mostly about white history and are not of interest to many of the students. The goal of this petition is to include African American Study classes into the course catalog and maybe even expand that department to make a major out of it. We would also like these courses to be taught by knowledgeable Professors who have themselves studied in these areas. It is important for people to be educated on all history and have the choice to decide what history would appeal more to them.
