"Vape Avenue Top Stop" IS TOO CLOSE TO SYRACUSE JUNIOR HIGH 

What is Vape Avenue Top Stop?

Located at 2058 W 1700 S #101, it’s the store with the big green “Vape Avenue” signs next to Walmart. It is located less than 1,000 ft away from Syracuse Junior High School and less than 600 ft away from residential homes.

What's the problem?

Vaping has been found time and again to be a gateway drug for youth. Vape stores across the Wasatch Front conveniently position themselves close to places where youth gather as they market hundreds of flavors, cool devices, and an exciting "buzz" when you use their products. Kids who vape are 4x more likely to start smoking, and 3x more likely to start using marijuana.

How is it allowed to be there?

Vape Avenue Top Stop is a vape shop pretending to be a convenience store. They managed to get a "general tobacco retailer permit" instead of the correct "specialty tobacco retailer permit" from the Davis County Health Department. They also received a "commercial retail" business license rather than a "specialty tobacco retailer" business license from Syracuse city. IF THEY WERE GIVEN THE CORRECT PERMIT AND LICENSE, THEIR LOCATION WOULD BE ILLEGAL.

Is anyone doing anything about it?

Both Syracuse City and the Davis County Health Department have realized this store is not what they said they were, but little has been done about it. Members of the community have been voicing their concerns for months. Syracuse city conducted an informal “investigation” into the store and found probably evidence that they were doctoring receipts and incorrectly reporting their profits to make it seem like they were following their current tobacco retailer permit. Next to nothing has been done to investigate this!

Sign this petition to show your city and county leaders that you will not allow Vape Avenue Top Stop to be neighbors with Syracuse Junior High School. Vape shops target youth, and this vape shop is clearly doing everything they can to benefit from their close location to our kids!
