Hilton Head Island Toll

Over the past decade traffic onto Hilton Head Island has increased exponentially due to workers moving to cheaper accommodation off-island and having to commute daily together with off-island contractors.Realtors are selling property off-island while advertising Hilton Head Island's beaches and the roads are congested all summer. In order to develop the necessary parking and infrastructure for the island a toll needs to be implemented for all non-residents. People who conduct businesses such as landscaping contractors, delivery companies and builders could get discounted annual toll fees, while day visitors and tourists would pay a high daily toll to use the Island's facilities. Restaurants may be affected but this can be easily be compensated for by vouchers. This could also mean doing away with the existing toll road and easing traffic congestion to the South of the island.
