BECU, Stop Advertising with KOMO News, a Sinclair Broadcasting Local Station

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

KOMO News recently aired a short statement (full text available here) that was provided by their parent company, Sinclair Broadcasting Group, Inc. Sinclair required "evening news anchors at their stations to read a statement about the preponderance of 'false news' in the media.... These statements were delivered by local news anchors, but it wasn’t reporting. It was fear-mongering about the media... an attempt to discredit the institutions that are reporting on [the Trump] administration" (The Stranger, 'A Sinclair Boycott is Complicated, Not Impossible').

BECU, a member-owned credit union, advertises on KOMO, providing valuable advertising dollars to a news organization that is actively spreading propaganda in our area. We ask that BECU immediately stop advertising on KOMO, and for the BECU board of directors to send a letter to the editors at KOMO and to the Sinclair Broadcasting Group board of directors, telling them why they have stopped advertising on KOMO.

Sinclair needs to know that broadcasting propaganda hurts our nation, but the only way they will listen is if we can show that such broadcasts hurt their bottom line.

Join us in asking BECU to stop funding the Sinclair propaganda machine. Please note if you are a BECU member when you sign the petition.

Please consider reaching out to BECU on Facebook and Twitter (#BoycottKOMO), and send your own message to BECU using the Send a Suggestion option. You can also call BECU at 800-233-2328 and ask the customer service representative to take a message for the BECU board of directors. Please be courteous in all of your messaging.
