Studio Theatre DC Should Renew Vietgone

Vietgone is a play by a Vietnamese playwright, Qui Nguyen, and about his parents who met and fell in love in a refugee camp in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. Many in the surrounding Vietnamese community of Washington DC did not know about this play due to less advertisement. Now, the play is not getting renewed. The cultural and historical significance of this play is not being honored in the way producers released this play in the community; intention development of our community as an audience was lacking.
This happens in every sector: Asian American content and/or Asian American-origin productions take a hit when mainstream institutions don't invest in publicizing or in long term runs. Sign this petition and let the leadership of Studio Theatre DC know that this is not right. Asian Americans and Vietnamese Americans in DC and in the surrounding area are a valuable client and donor base that they should develop. We see them. We will not be sidelined. Sign now to show your support of Vietgone and its incredible, valiant cast!!
