Address the ethical issue of supplying drugs for executions

The lack of ethical stand on the issue regarding supplying drugs for the purpose of executions is detrimental to the medical profession as a whole, as its sole purpose is to improve the health of human beings and to offer adequate treatments.

Letter to
Executive Vice President and CEO of the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists David Miller
Director of Marketing & Communications for the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists Dagmar Climo
We, the undersigned, ask the IACP to amend it minimum standards of conduct to address the ethical issue regarding supplying drugs for the purpose of executions, and to refuse future orders from departments of corrections in the United-States.

The lack of ethical stand on this issue is detrimental to the medical profession as a whole, as its sole purpose is to improve the health of human beings and to offer adequate treatments.

The Hippocratic oath clearly states:

"I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone."
"I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel."

We, therefore, urge the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists to endorse a clear position in this regard and expect a public statement to reflect such a commitment in the best possible time.
