Bring Menstrual Equity to Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge

By signing this petition, you agree that free Menstrual Care products should be provided throughout the region for those in need.

Many women, trans, and non-binary individuals around the world face a very harsh reality, a reality that is difficult to speak to publicly. About one-third of them do not have the resources to take care of the basic menstrual care needs that come with menstruation. Many of the difficulties stem from financial struggles, accessibility, and other variables. Different countries and cities around the globe have finally begun noticing that menstrual care products are a basic need and have taken action, including our neighbours in Toronto. It is time that our community follows suit!

We ask that you sign this petition to support the communities across Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge and encourage public buildings to offer free menstrual care products to those in need. Menstrual care products should be available in dispensers within the restrooms of various public areas including public libraries, museums, galleries, City Hall and more. Without your support menstrual equity in our community will not be possible. Please put your best foot forward. Welcome the option to bring menstrual equity to Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge.

THEMUSEUM is taking the lead on this initiative as we continue the menstrual equity dialogue with FLOW | The Menstruation Exhibition. The exhibition, curated by Virginia Eichhorn is made possible with the partnership of Title Sponsor Diva International who has been working towards menstrual equity since their start as a company. The exhibition is also made possible with Supporting Sponsor Shoppers Drug Mart, who supported Toronto's pilot program, introducing ease of access to menstrual care products. Both Diva International and Shoppers Drug Mart have continued their support in Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge in partnership with THEMUSEUM, providing free menstrual care products in washrooms throughout THEMUSEUM throughout the duration of FLOW | The Menstruation Exhibition. Product donation efforts collected at THEMUSEUM are being distributed through the Food Bank of Waterloo Region and the Public and Catholic District School Boards. Now it is time to do your part. This is one small ripple in a pool of larger change.
