Save the GBW Physics Website

The Glenbard West physics teachers have used a separate website to help students for over 12 years, a website that is extremely helpful for all physics students at West, and helps keep the parents informed. It has all of the information used in class, with PowerPoints, a schedule of the year, reviews, and even outside resources. Not only do students at Glenbard West use it, but students and teachers across the country have referenced it, and many send emails to the teachers to thank them for such a helpful website. Recently, however, the District 87 administration and IT department have told the physics teachers that they are not allowed to have a physics website, and cannot have a personal physics website, even with no connection to Glenbard West. Their reasoning behind the cease and desist is that it goes against the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), a set of constraints they use to prevent inappropriate internet use. The AUP is generally used to prevent people from breaking laws using the internet, sending spam, or searching for pornographic material. Instead, they want to use this policy to remove a very helpful resource for students, parents and other teachers, claiming that schoology works better, even though it crashes often and cuts out parents and people from other schools. This website is a huge resource for many people, and to get rid of it would make physics much harder for so many people. Please sign this petition to help tell the administration to save this website.
