Change Victims of Crimes Act to support and include Verbal & psychological abuse as abuse.

Change Victims of Crimes Act to support and include Verbal & psychological abuse as abuse.

The Issue

In life individuals experience a great deal of pain, suffering, and some form of trauma.

With the increasing isolation and disconnection, domestic abuse also increases.

Physical abuse is covered, and supported. What is not covered is the various forms of other types of abuse endured while being in an abusive relationship.

Often times there is a limited training within law enforcement to deal or handle the varying types of abuse because they are not properly trained on any other form of abuse.

Until recently, emotional, psychological, and verbal abuse where not viewed as abusive.

How de we change the law and the education of law enforcement to be better equipped to handle the varying forms of abuse?

How do we change the laws to help not only discourage further forms of abuse, but help to curb abuse in the first place.

This petition is to help create a change in not only how we look at abuse, but how we help to support those who have been abused.

Changing the Victims of Crimes act to include verbal, emotional, and or psychological abuse will help to start turning these forms of abuse.

Verbal and psychological abuse have gone unrecognized and untreated as forms of abuse, despite them contributing to more cases of physical abuse.

Hep me change the law not only in Alberta but the whole of Canada.

Help me in giving a voice to those who don't feel they have a voice.

Abuse is abuse is abuse, help stop the abuse!
