This petition is being created to demand change within our beloved Morgan State's Campus. Amidst many of the COVID 19 protocols being implemented on campus; 1) wear our masks, 2) wash our hands, and 3) observe social distancing, one very dangerous aspect of coming back to campus remains unchanged. Apartment style residence dorms are still required to have roomates. This is unacceptable.

Corona cases in the US increase by thousands daily. On a local level, we have seen in Phase two of campus reopening, that bringing many students back to campus is not a good idea. Two people sleeping in each room is barely the 6 feet apart encouraged on campus and by the CDC. Why is it not being enforced in more intimate settings such as dorms? We are already sharing the same bathroom, kitchen, and living room with potentially people we do not know, from all over, all during a global pandemic. Why share rooms too?

Due to many classes being online, there should not be as many students on campus, therefore, not as many in the dorms. Morgan State should limit dorms to one student in one room. And if need really be, one student in the living room. Living in the living room may spike privacy concerns but that is the reason for this petition. Morgan state should install mandatory curtain rods and curtains over the front door entrance, and any other corridors requested by student living in the living room. This way the students are living comfortably in their own space, and not in the same room.
