The state of Hawaii  has made a decision to move all arrestees  who show flu-like symptoms or test positive COVID-19 to the Wai’anae Police Station. From our kupuna down to our keiki is affected by this decision. This is putting our first responders, our families, and our community at risk.

Some possible solutions are getting these arrestees healthcare they need to recover properly. We need the state of Hawaiʻi to stop turning to the Waiʻanae community as the dumping ground for all things bad. We have families living on the coasts who’s lives will be further endangered by this relocation. It is not fair that the Hawaiʻi Police Department can make huge decisions like this without giving a single thought to the lives who live on the leeward coast.

Our kupuna do not deserve to fear the outside world more than they do already. Waiʻanae is not a place you can discard everything bad at, we are a thriving community who will let our voices be heard against this relocation of COVID-19 arrestees.
