Raise your voices during the Paris summit
Nov 30, 2015 — Dear Friends,
Climate change is the defining challenge of our time, and the most important summit to set the course to meet it is happening right now.
World leaders have come to Paris to hammer out a global agreement to stop the deadly rise in temperatures before the clock runs out. The World Bank just announced that climate change could push 100 million of our brothers and sisters into extreme poverty by 2030. That’s only 15 years away. And that’s only the beginning.
People of faith are not willing to sit back and let this happen. Over the past few months, they have spoken out—loudly and clearly. Now it’s time for believers from all religious traditions to rise up and let their voices ring through the halls of Paris.
I am asking you to support our Faith for Earth campaign by sharing the petition: https://www.change.org/p/david-cameron-mp-ban-ki-moon-respond-urgently-to-climate-change-by-setting-a-renewable-energy-target-of-100-by-2050.
Let your voice be heard. Share the petition. We don’t have much time left.
The climate conference is currently underway in Paris. Religious leaders are there to deliver your petitions to heads of state and top United Nations officials. We are asking these leaders to protect our precious home by committing to one hundred percent renewable energy by 2050.
Together, let us protect our beloved planet so that all future generations can flourish.
Yours in Peace,
Rt. Rev. Desmond Tutu
Archbishop Emeritus, Cape Town
