Cancel the state funeral for Mrs Thatcher or offer to private sponsorship
Margaret Thatcher's death should be marked privately by her family who should be allowed to grieve away from the prying eyes of the media. There are bound to be significant demonstrations and protests against the event which would detract from her family's private grief. The costs of security and indeed of the funeral itself are also not affordable at this time of contraction of the public purse and surely Margaret Thatcher itself, an avid cutter of public expenditure, would surely support this one last cut. Alternatively, we humbly propose that in this same spirit that a funeral be sponsored by private investor such as the tobacco giant, Philip Morris Inc, who were kind enough to provide revenue funding for Margaret Thatcher during her lifetime.
