Allow Lubbock Homeowners to Power our City and Implement Net Metering

LP&L customers have been feeling the burden of high electricity costs and people are upset. The monopoly utility system is clearly not working for the majority of Lubbockites. Part of the problem is that homeowners are prohibited from generating our own electricity to power our own homes and our own city, because LP&L agreed to a deal to source all of its power from Xcel Energy. Things need to change!
We want the city of Lubbock and LP&L to unleash the power of the free market by allowing homeowners to install rooftop solar and wind power systems that connect to the city's electrical grid. This practice, known as "net metering", could save homeowners thousands by allowing private households to sell power into the grid, thereby increasing supply for consumers and bringing down costs for everyone in Lubbock.
