Matthew Cook started this petition to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost

Plant based hallucinogens have been used for thousands of years by indigenous tribes for Religious Ceremonial use. Ohio treats the bona fide religious use of these substances as a crime that they send people to prison for. By doing so, Ohio is in violation of the 1st and 14th Amendments of the United States as well as the Ohio Constitution. Oakland, California and Denver, Colorado have already passed measures to decriminalize these natural substances. Despite changing laws and increased scientific research, Ohio chooses to continue their discrimination against practitioners of sincere religious beliefs claiming they are self-destructive and prayer and meditation are more acceptable.

This is not the Religious freedom our forefathers intended when they drafted the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. This is, in fact, the same tyranny and persecution committed by the King of England for which we revolted from nearly 300 years ago. Protect the 1st Amendment! Tell them that we should be able to choose whichever Religious beliefs that calls to our Soul. If two or more Religious groups can practice a religious belief, then anyone who sincerely wishes to practice that belief should be able to do so. That’s the protection the 14th Amendment was enacted defend. All States in the US must adhere to all Federally Recognized Religious beliefs.
