October is dyslexia awareness month, let’s get dyslexia recognized within ontario

My aim is to get dyslexia recognized as a learning disability within Ontario.

My daughter has dyslexia and is struggling within our current educational system as many of your children do as well. 250,000 students within Ontario need an assessment. 40,000 are on a waiting list. Many of them have been waiting 5 years or more. Forty-seven percent of criminals within the correctional facilities within Canada have a learning disability. If help and support was given to them within the educational system maybe the cost and suffering to all could have been prevented.

My aim is to gain government mandated financial help and support for every child and our teachers as well. Teachers should be offerd training to help each dyslexic student have a successful learning experience and therefor to believe in themselves. In Manitoba 300 teachers have been provided training this year alone. Wouldn’t it be nice if children could believe in the educational system instead of dreading it?
