Candace Parker was one of the best basketball players to play for the Lady Vol program at the University of Tennessee. She was an Academic All-American, Naismith Player of the Year, Wade Trophy recipient and led the Lady Vols to back-to-back national championships in 2007 and 2008. She has went on to a stellar WNBA career and was chosen twice to represent her country in the Olympic Games. Candace truly represents the very best of the University of Tennessee and especially the Lady Vol basketball program. For these reasons, we, the Lady Vol fanbase, feel it is time to honor Candace and her wonderful accomplishments by requesting that her jersey be retired in a ceremony at Thompson-Boling Arena during the 2012-13 basketball season, with head coach emeritus Pat Summitt playing a major role in the festivities. We hope all Lady Vol fans will sign this petition to show support of this event for Candace and that Mr. Hart will recognize the request of the fanbase and allow this ceremony to take place.
