No more Margaret Court how about Raelene Boyle

In Victoria, Margaret Court has a stadium named after her. She doesn't deserve such an honour. Being a decent sportsperson, but not a decent person, isn't enough for such a privilege. You see, Court is a homophobe. Recently she has said she won't fly Qantas in protest at Qantas CEO's advocacy of same-sex marriage. She said:

"I am disappointed that Qantas has become an active promoter for same sex marriage. I believe in marriage as a union between a man and a woman as stated in the Bible. Your statement leaves me no option but to use other airlines where possible for my extensive travelling."

Yep, gross.

So, instead, let's call the Margaret Court Arena the Raelene Boyle Arena. Raelene was a super athlete who should have been an Olympic gold medalist twice over but missed out because of the cheating of a competitor. She is a supporter of people from all sexual persuasions and she is an ambassador for women across Australia who have been struck down with breast cancer. She is a decent human being.

So, the people of Victoria, and indeed Australia, need to ask themselves: do we want to see a stadium in our great city and great country that stinks of prejudice and exclusion or do we want to see a stadium that makes us proud because it represents acceptance,  inclusion and compassion.

We call on the government of Victoria to change the name of Margaret Court Arena to the Raylene Boyle Arena. It's the right thing to do.
