Allow property inspections in Melbourne to recommence

Private inspections on properties are extremely low risk. There are strict measures in place to ensure that only one party can view a property at a time, people cannot touch anything within the house and everyone wears a mask. They are far lower risk than visiting a cafe to get a takeaway, or going to an outdoor pool.

Yet the Victorian State Premier announced that the real estate industry cannot operate properly again until we have less than 5 COVID cases per day, state wide. If someone has already bought or sold prior to the restrictions however, the settlement must still go ahead.

This means that people who have sold will still have to settle, yet can't buy a new house, or even view a rental.

People who have already bought and were planning to sell are now unable to sell their current home, but still expected to settle on their new property. This will put many people into financial ruin.

People who need to rent out a property, or need a rental to live in, also cannot view  properties, so even that's not an option.

It makes no sense to stop the industry from operating when there is such a low risk of virus transmission.

Please reopen real estate private inspections and allow people to at least have somewhere appropriate to live in these terrible times.
