Dangerous Lack Of Regulations in Canine Industry, Safety Issue
Why this petition matters

Thank you for taking the time to read our cause, we appreciate your time and consideration.
Throughout the U.K. certified and experienced dog trainers have seen a dramatic rise in the use of painful, punishing and domineering training, including the use of prong and shock collars.
The dangerous fallout of punishment based training; hitting, slapping, prong collars, shock collars, slip leads, 'corrective' yanks on the dog's leash, can increase aggressive behaviours. This will affect the dog, the owner and society. It can lead to further attacks, injuries, bites and even the possibility of fatal attacks.
It is not well known to the general public that the dog training industry is NOT regulated.
Anyone can claim to be a trainer WITHOUT previous training or certification.
Trainers who believe in punishment, controlling your dog through pain and intimidation, will try to convince you and other owners that punishing your dog teaches them a lesson.
The truth is, use of fear, force, pain and intimidation is not only unnecessary, but damaging to the canine mental health and well-being. This damage can lead to aggressive behaviours and/or overwhelming fear and discomfort.
Science has proven that positive reinforcement works not only behaviourally but emotionally and psychologically as well. This method treats your dog's behaviours methodically, ensuring your dog is comfortable and safe.
Punishment based training is more likely to exaggerate and promote aggressive behaviours which can result in attacks, fatal attacks and euthanasia.
The consequences of training are very real. We need to ensure the dog trainer you let into your home, is certified in modern, science based training and will not put you or your dog in harms way!
Help us get the dog training industry regulated, raise awareness and help save countless of people and dogs!
