Subsidize More Fruits and Vegetables by Revamping the Farm Bill

Low income families don't have the choice to live a healthy lifestyle. Highly processed foods are available for cheap because the U.S. Farm Bill chooses to subsidize corn, wheat, and soy creating an abundance of these crops. Only 2% of the United States farming land is growing fruits and vegetables and the U.S. Department of Health and Services recommend that at least half your plate be fruits and vegetables. If our government subsidizes more fruits and vegetables, making these foods more affordable, it will greatly benefit the health of our nation and lower healthcare expenses.
