Reinstatement of school funding through Statements of Special Educational Needs
Reinstatement of school funding through Statements of Special Educational Needs

I worked as a Coordinator of an MLD unit within a mainstream school in Bury and as a SENcO for 26 years in the North West of England. My son also has autism.During that time, I secured suitable assessment and funding for numerous children with varying levels of SEN who went on to achieve well and stay in the 'education system'.Today I listened with horror to an Ofsted Inspector announcing a National Scandal and berating schools for 'losing' pupils with SEN by offrolling them due to the pressures of performance league tables. This proposed change would return accountability to Government and Headteachers for these pupils and help them to secure timely assessments for Autistic children who need help as early as possible so that their routines can be established preventing disruption to all.In these uncertain times where ''lost children' can so easily become radicalised it is imperative that a massive change must be made in our education system.
