The Conservative Government are planning massive cuts to funding for Lewisham’s schools.
Every child in Lewisham deserves the best start in life. That means a fantastic education which inspires them, which stretches them, and which helps them reach their potential.
Lewisham’s primary schools are among the best in the country, and our secondary schools are improving. But the massive cuts to education funding which will hit our schools and damage our children’s’ education.
Under the Government’s plans, funding for Lewisham’s schools will have been cut by £8.8 million by 2019/20 compared to 2015/16. This represents a cut of £257 per pupil, and it is equivalent to the cost of over 250 teachers.
We the undersigned call on the Secretary of State for Education to reverse the planned cuts to Lewisham’s schools, and to ensure that we receive fair funding for Lewisham’s schools.
