Reprimand and Retire Renee Hall from Dallas Police Department
Why this petition matters

Renee Hall has taken the opportunity given to her by authoritarians like Donald Trump and Greg Abbott to enflame situations in the City of Dallas.
Her callous use of force shows she doesn't not have the judgement or knowledge necessary to lead a modern law enforcement agency and she should be removed from office immediately.
On Friday, May 29 her officers boxed in protestors from walking along the street and then shot flashbangs and tear gas into them when they had no opportunity to retreat and had been walking without incident.
On Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31st, Chief Hall allowed her officers to use unnecessary force to include shooting a bystander - not involved with any protest - in the head with a rubber bullet. The bystanders crime? She was walking home with groceries.
Additionally, multiple people protesting police violence were violently beat by police in what is being called a prone, defenseless position. Chief Hall has yet to respond to citizen inquiries on these issues and instead deflects that empty water bottles thrown in her direction indicate she needs to respond with bullets. Her lack of understanding of the use of force continuum and proportionality shows her inability to lead and give guidance to junior officers.
To date, the Dallas City Council has shown no one with the backbone to stand up for the First Amendment right to speak and assemble. Let us be clear, no one is condoning looting or acts of violence, but there have been multiple instances where the police initiated attacks on both protestors, innocent bystanders, and the public. This is unacceptable and should lead to her dismissal.
I encouraging anyone able to contribute to protect protestors here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/dpdprotection It is time we stand up for the First Amendment and our rights as Americans!
