Remove Confederate Monument in Downtown Dallas

Downtown Dallas is home to a 60 foot tall memorial to the cult of the lost cause. This cult seeks to change the narrative of our country's history. The monument is a giant glorification of the Confederate war effort to preserve their right to own African slaves.
People are quick to say we need to preserve history, but as New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu stated, these statues were built to celebrate white supremacy. And there is a large difference between preservation of history and celebration of hatred.
The monument belongs in a museum where it can be a warning to future generations. A warning of the power of hatred and a piece of the much larger story of slavery.
