I urge you to APPROVE Z167-266 (KK) exactly as recommended by the City Plan Commission and city planning staff.
I believe Dallas is best served when all its neighborhoods offer vibrant places to live, work, shop and play. For decades, West Dallas and North Oak Cliff have had an absence of mixed-use developments offering businesses and services to people of mixed incomes.
The Fort Worth Avenue corridor is one of just a few locations south of the Trinity River where a unique brand of “place” is emerging. Sylvan | Thirty, located across the street from this project, has played a major role in that renaissance.
I believe expanding the energy and vitality of Sylvan | Thirty across Sylvan Avenue to this new site will just increase the positive change we see taking place in our neighborhood.
Plus, Lake|Flato (the San Antonio architectural firm that designed these pavilions and chose the materials) has been honored with over 270 design awards, including the American Institute of Architects Firm of the Year Award in 2004 and ten Top Ten Green Project Awards from the AIA Committee on the Environment.
They know what they're doing.
That is why I support the amendments to PD 714 being requested by the developer, Oaxaca Interests, Zoning Case: Z167-266(KK).
