Amend the Dallas city charter that bans residents w/2 convictions from sitting on boards
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
There are more than 84,000 ex-offenders living in the City of Dallas, many of whom have multiple convictions, most of whom are trying to turn their lives around and contribute to their communities. Currently, the Dallas City Code places a lifetime ban on residents with two felony convictions from serving on a City Board or Committee. This fundamentally is unjust and sends a demoralizing message to those citizens who have rebuilt their lives and renewed their commitment to service: FORMERLY INCARCERATED NEED NOT APPLY. Amending the City Code and reinstating Park Board member Marlon Rollins will make it clear that the City of Dallas is committed to the principles of social justice and redemption. We the undersigned call on Dallas' elected representatives to do just that! Let’s stand for those who wish to contribute to the citizenry of Dallas through this redemptive action.
