Equity Equity Equity. Policies are powerful tools in breaking down systemic racism and injustices. By creating policies and cultures in nursing programs that foster inclusivity you will be contributing to a better world, better nurses and better care for all people.

Systemic racism continues to exist in many aspects of our educational institutions in Canada and abroad. Marginalized groups deserve the same opportunities as the dominant society in the field of nursing and all other fields of study and professions. Now more than ever, change is needed within these structures. Those who have the power to make this change - need to make it happen!

It's well past time to stop counting members of the black and indigenous communities in the single digits in each class cohort or on the faculty of the school of nursing.
