Say No to Paid-drop off and collection at Dublin Airport
Paid drop-off and collection benefits no one but the DAA and Fingal County Council. There are many reasons as to why a person may not be able to walk long distances such as disabilities, age, injury, family, financial resources and many more. It is not fair that people who cannot make the journey with public transport will have to pay a toll in order for them to be dropped off or collected. It is ableist and classist of the DAA and Fingal County Council to approve this plan. It is not about the money but the fact that the DAA and Fingal County Council have not considered a vast proportion of our population.
On top of that, the paid drop-off and collection will create more issues with people crossing the national Road thus creating an environment where people are susceptible to injury. The current system at Dublin Airport is working just fine. Everyone is respectful of the drop-off and collection area with an officer who makes sure that the area is just for its purpose.
I propose we keep the current system and scrap the paid drop-off and collection. We cannot allow profit to be made of people who are at a disadvantage. It is immoral and unjust.
