D219 Needs a Full-time Aquatics Facility Supervisor

Coach Seth Orlove has been the District 219 Aquatics Director for the past five years, working to coordinate, maintain and ensure the safety of the three D219 pools that run swimming, diving and water polo programs for the schools and community of Niles, Morton Grove and Skokie. He works all year-round and is dedicated to District 219 and its Athletics Department. We recently found out the district is eliminating his position as Aquatics Director.
He will still be the Head Coach for the Niles North high school boys’ swim team and for Swift Aquatics, but he will no longer be paid for all of the coordination, safety protocol, technical support, facility maintenance and scheduling that he does for the aquatics facilities twelve months of the year.
We are encouraging the school board to revisit this decision. It is important to have a District employee as the supervisor for the Aquatics facilities for safety and logistics purposes. The District invested $15 million dollars in the new Aquatics Center, and they should also invest in someone to oversee and maximize the use of this facility.
We are signing this petition as D219 parents, students and community members to campaign for a full-time position for Coach Seth to coordinate the many community groups and activities at the pool, as well as maintaining the pool and ensuring the safety of everyone using the facility.
