Tasada is a village in Lahunipada block of Sundargarh district in Odisha. This village has 35 Paudi Bhuyans families who are from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG).

This village is located on hill top. Like any other tribe group, these villagers are also dependent on forest and small time seasonal farming on hill top to feed themselves which is not sufficient for entire year. The villagers are eligible to get subsidised ration from the authorised center of state government, Odisha.  The PDS center is located at the bottom of the hill and five kilometer from Tasada village. There is no approach road is built to this village. It takes 3 hours to reach the PDS center. Carrying 25kg of rice and climbing a slopy hill for 3 hours is a clear violation of their human rights to access the food.

As per a report on https://www.globalhungerindex.org/india.html : In the 2019 Global Hunger Index, India ranks 102nd out of 117 qualifying countries. With a score of 30.3, India suffers from a level of hunger that is serious.

Tasada village which caters a particularly vulnerable tribal group, its all the more important for any government to take extra care for their survival. The accessibility  is one of the important reasons of hunger issues in India where these people aren't able to get the benefit of food security acts. As per a news report on 11th October 2019 by Odia daily Sambad, there are 4300 villages in Odisha which is not accessible to get benefits of different welfare schemes. https://sambadepaper.com/pagezoomsinwindows.php?id=24371&boxid=21241685&cid=4&edcode=71&pagedate1=11-10-2019

We request district collector of Sundargarh district to build a road that will help the villagers to carry food items for their children. The road will not just help in carrying food, it will impact other basic necessities like health care and education. As on today, pregnant women and patients had no choice but to suffer silently. The road will help them to reach nearest health center.
