We now have confirmation that a multi purpose ship with full hospital facilities to be used for humanitarian purposes, will be built as the flagship of the Irish Naval Fleet and will replace the current flagship, the LE Eithne.  This vessel could meet the goal of our campaign, if it were to be named in honour of Ireland's forgotten hero, Tom Crean. Crean exemplified humanitarianism having saved the lives of 28 men over three separate occasions and for his extreme bravery he was awarded The Albert Medal.
