The Government Murdered The People of KZN!

The Government Murdered The People of KZN!
Why this petition matters
The South African Government has long committed to climate change and has long since expressed its intention toward building a healthier climate. The government supported and signed the Paris climate commitment showing their own commitment. The government's advice commitment to climate justice was further reinforced by their latest sign on the AR6 Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability in February 2022 and the Mitigation of Climate Change Report released in April 2022 . These two reports confirm the urgency of practical steps toward emergency climate action, however in as much as the government has committed climate action there has been no physical movement from the government. This is especially irresponsible for a country that has had its citizens suffer from droughts, mass water shortages where many areas especially in rural areas stay without water for long periods of time and most notably and recently mass destructive floods that have affected areas like KZN.
This is a petition supporting the call made by Climate Justice charter movement, Co-operative and policy alternative centre and the South African sovereignty campaigns, charge against the South African President, hon Cyril Ramaphosa, Ministers, Deputy chairperson of the Presidential climate change commission, Premier of KZN and the Mayor of eThekwini Metro with culpable homicide.
It is clear the continued deaths of South Africans at the hands of extremely destructive weather patterns as a result of climate change have not moved the leadership of this country to pay attention and take action. In 2015 according to World bank statistics provided in the Climate change Knowledge portal for development practitioners and policy makers, the drought that affected South Africa was reported to have been the worst in the century, it was reported to have pushed 51 000 people below the poverty line. In 2011, a flood that was motivated by increased temperatures due to climate change, caused the overflow of the Orange river ceiling over 91 people. We are currently sitting with the KZN floods that claimed over 500 lives within the first 3 days of the flood and still the government has been immovable on mankind's practical changes. In KZN in 2019, extreme mudslides and floods claimed the lives of over 81 people, in the year 2021 and 2022 we witnessed as a country floods that caused destruction even in surrounding towns like lady smith which ultimately led to state of national being declared.
The government is well versed on the climate change warnings that have hit South Africa but still have no emergency climate action, the government is guilty of the deaths of the South Africans who have passed away during the recent floods. We have watched the government humiliate us and fight and air their corruption through commissions like the Zondo Commission, the life Esidimeni case, missing funds during a pandemic looted PPE funds, if all these monies were used effectively and our government was as caring as they purport to be we wouldn't be here. The government should face the charges brought before them by the Climate Justice charter movement, Co-operative and policy alternative centre and the South African sovereignty campaigns. We want Justice for the lives lost during this climate disaster which affected people because of the government's negligence.
