CFISD Board of Trustees Reconsider 2017-18 Start Date

Following the impact of Hurricane Harvey, the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board of Trustees has voted for school to start on September 6, 2017. After surveying employees, it was determined by employee responses only that 800+ employees responded they could not return to work yet. However, only 12,000 of 16,000 employees responded. Families and students were not surveyed for input. It was stated by in-house council, Marnie Sims, that employees have already been "given" 7 days and can simply use their 10 state and personal days if necessary to continue to repair their homes, find housing, secure transportation, etc. Any days used after those 10 days are depleted, employees will be docked pay. So no opportunity for you to be sick, your child to be sick, maternity leave, Family Medical Leave, etc. Please ask our Board of Trustees to reconsider this callous approach to helping their employees in this time of crisis.
