Throughout the 28 days of Black History Month, nothing has been said about it. There has been no acknowledgment, celebration, or announcement about it. However for National Hispanic Heritage Month there was music played, flags worn, and there was a huge amount of acknowledgment and as Black students of Cypress Creek High School we believe that Black History Month should've been celebrated the same way at the school. We ( the black students at Cypress Creek High School) would like to have March be the new Black History Month at the school since it wasn't celebrated correctly in February. We also believe that the hate crimes and the use of racial slurs such as the "n-word" being said as Non- African Americans should be harshly punished. Especially during this historical month, it is the utmost disrespect to the black students that nothing is being done about it.
