Period products should be free
I want to make period products free because having access to free and accessible period products will help people who menstruate save upwards of $5,000 in their lifetimes, reduces stress on women's shelters, and it will reduce waste.
Results revealed the average woman surveyed spends at least $13.25 a month on menstrual products that is at least $6,360 in an average woman's reproductive lifetime.
With giving access to free period products will help with period poverty. Period poverty is a lack of access to menstrual products, education, hygiene facilities, waste management, or a combination of these.
“Period poverty does not only affect women and girls in developing countries; it also affects women in wealthy, industrialized countries. Difficulty affording menstrual products can cause girls to stay home from school and work, with lasting consequences on their educations and economic opportunities.” said UNFPA
