Residents of Cutler Bay and nearby communities can join the fight against the spread of commercial development on Old Cutler Road in Cutler Bay.

On March 16, 2016, the town council will consider changing the future land use plan and zoning on property at Old Cutler Road and 184th Street to allow a mixed use development, which can include commercial development, apartments, and parking garages. This property is currently zoned low density residential/conservation, which allows 30-40 single family residential homes to be built. This historic two lane road can not be widened and due to Palmer Trinity's expansion, traffic is already slated to get worse.

If this passes, the owner is not obligated to build the project they have shown the community. The owner could sell the property with the new zoning and someone could build a much larger project. This development would be "sandwiched" between the road way and a wet land conservation area, and would take away our town's best hope to access the bay.

We want to reach to all town council members to tell them to vote "NO" to changing the future land use plan and zoning of the property at Old Cutler and 184th Street.

For people local to Cutler Bay and nearby areas, please be prepared to attend the Cutler Bay Town Council meeting on March 16th when this issue will be discussed. Strong opposition by large numbers of residents is our best chance to stop this.
