Confirmed victory

Organizers need to start planning the next conference - but our already allocated funding is caught up in 'red tape'.  We are STUCK.  We can't plan - and soon it will be too late! Help us convince HHS Secretary Sebelius THIS IS IMPORTANT!

Letter to
President Of The United States President Barack Obama
U.S. Department of Health & Human Services HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius
Administrator, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Pamela S. Hyde, J.D.
PLEASE CUT THE RED TAPE! The money is already there in the budget. Did you know that this is the VERY best Mental Health gathering for Americans living with various mental illness and substance abuse challenges? “Alternatives” has been changing lives since 1985. In a society where bullying, school violence, gun violence, homelessness and much more are daily fare on the news, “Alternatives” is one ray of hope that we can build a more compassionate society. We absolutely take what we learn at these conferences to our home communities – via networking, new learning, new ideas …

“Alternatives” connects ‘consumers’ with the very best that is going on in mental health. We hear stories from people whose actions changed America’s treatment towards those with mental illness. We connect with others whose experiences are much like ours. We learn from experts that reflect our input. We become a network of strength that can be taken back to our communities with pride.

We’ve already done our work – the application was submitted a long time ago. THIS CONFERENCE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US ALL. The money is already set aside in the budget. ALL we need is your help to cut that red tape so that planning can begin.
Please – Secretary Sebelius – cut the red tape! Get things moving so we can plan our next conference.
