IOT MAINTAIN THE INTERGRITY OF THIS MOVEMENT, THIS PETITION IS RESTRICTED TO MEMBERS OF THE FB GROUP ONLY.
*UPDATE* Added some clarification to specify petition goal and purpose.
**PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND REGION**
The end state of this petition is to discourage the union in perusing an unwanted amendment to 34.03 (a) and (b) of the FB collective agreement in which they are requesting to the addition of new language to the collective agreement IOT remove military seniority from vacation and line bidding. This is being conducted without consulting the FB group members and those it directly effects. (see ANNEX A)
This recommendation is a complete affront to military members who have served Canada and the government with honour and distinction. We deserve to be recognized for our time served as much as any other government agency/department and it should be reflected within the CBSA and encouraged by the CIU.
On behalf of the many former and current members of the military we ask the CIU and PSAC to reconsider this stance it is taking. Our staffing issues will continue to be hindered by such an agreement by discouraging retired veterans and reservists (who continue to serve) from joining our ranks.
This petition is to show that former and current military members are opposed to the unions position to add new language that omits (military service time) seniority for vacation/line bidding from the collective agreement and to be treated no differently than other "public servants" who join the CBSA.
References for you:
The CIU grieved the employers interpretation of section 34 in 2017 the grievance was denied:
Please sign and forward this to other military members, this petition will be submitted to the CIU and PSAC ideally end of April 2018.
